The story behind my ink...
Hello again everyone! It's story time! I recently went and got my first tattoo(s)! The amazing Matt Oldfield at Tomb Tattoo in Cape Town did an impeccable job, and I'd thought I'd share the meaning behind these tattoos with you. I've wanted these (and a few more) tattoos since about 10 years ago. At the time, I went and spoke to a local tattoo artist about the ideas I had, and told him I wasn't entirely sure if I should get them or not. He told me to wait a year. If I still wanted the same tattoos after a year, then I should go ahead and get them. Wise advice. Fast forward to 2020, and I went and got those.
Let's start with the N on my ring finger.
My wife's name is Natalie, so the N is the first letter of her name. This way even if I am not wearing my wedding ring I have a symbol of my commitment to her always on my finger.
Life on the back of my left arm. This symbolizes the life that Christ came to give us. He died on the cross so that we may live, and have life in abundance (John 10:10).
Hope on the back of my right arm.
This symbolizes the hope that we have in Christ.
The cross on my left thumb and the anchor or my right. These two tie it all together.
What Jesus did on the cross (left thumb) gave us life (left arm), and because of what he did we have this hope (right arm) as an anchor (right thumb) for the soul. (Heb 6:19).
So there you have it! If you have any questions please feel free to ask! I'd be happy to answer them Again, a huge shoutout to Mat Oldfield at Tomb Tattoo for doing an amazing job. If anyone wants some fine line work done, I'd highly recommend him! As always, Much Love J
